Authorisation

During the reporting period, the Regulatory Authority continued to
receive a steady stream of substantive enquiries from prospective
applicants, with an emphasis on insurance and asset management
businesses. Two firms were granted authorisation to carry on regu-
lated activities in the Qatar Financial Centre. Details of authorised
firms are set out in Annex 1.
Authorisation also processed 139 applications for individuals to per-
form controlled functions in relation to authorised firms. Details of
these applications are set out in Annex 2.

Regulatory Cooperation

In accordance with the Regulatory Authority strategy of strong
regulatory cooperation, throughout 2016 the Supervision and
Authorisation division worked closely with a number of public entities
and professional organisations on the joint efforts of strengthening
Qatar’s regulatory framework and building a legacy of regulators
for the State.
