Authorisation
In 2024, the Authorisation department granted five new authorisations, most notably the Qatar Derivatives Exchange
and the Qatar Central Counterparty. A joint Authorisation and Supervision team is continuing to work with the
Exchange in preparation for it to become operational. As part of this preparation, the Authorisation department held
two presentations with prospective members of the Exchange regarding the requirements to set up in the QFC.
In 2024, the QFCRA worked with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on the Fund-of-Funds Program. This project
involves the QIA committing to investing funds with small-to-medium-sized fund managers. As these managers
would need to establish a presence in Qatar, the QFCRA has been working closely with the QIA to assist entities
that are part of the programme in setting up within the QFC. One such entity was authorised in late 2024.
