Financial Regulation and Leadership
To support and build future Qatari regulatory leaders, the Regula-
tory Authority partnered with the Qatar Central Bank and the Qatar
Financial Markets Authority to build a customised Master’s Degree
programme to develop employees of the three organisations.
The Regulatory Authority issued an RFP for educational services and
representatives from the partnering organisations were appointed
to a technical advisory panel, which met twice in 2016 to review
proposals submitted by regional education providers. In Decem-
ber 2016, the panel awarded the contract to HEC Paris in Qatar,
one of the world’s top three providers of executive education
programmes.
Al Masar Scholarship
With the purpose of creating a talent pipeline of future regulators
for the next decade, the Regulatory Authority is working with the
Ministry of Administrative Development to develop the Al Masar
Scholarship for high school students interested in careers in the
finance sector. Two secondary schools have been identified – the
Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Independent
School for Girls and a separate school for boys, both of which were
opened in September 2015 by the Qatar Central Bank in co-opera-
tion with the Supreme Education Council. The Al Masar Scholarship
will be launched in the fall of 2017 to students of these schools, with
recipients to be identified later that year.
