
Sheikh Fahad Jabor Al-Thani was appointed Managing Director of Supervision and Authorisation at the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) in 2026. In this capacity, he oversees the regulatory supervision of banking, insurance, investment management firms, as well as the QFCRA’s anti-money laundering and authorisation functions. His work focuses on ensuring a robust and proportionate supervisory framework that promotes financial stability, market integrity, and sustainable growth within the QFC.
He joined the QFCRA in 2020 and has since held a range of roles across the Financial Analysis and Innovation and Banking Supervision departments, contributing to the QFCRA’s regulatory development and data-driven supervisory initiatives. His work focused on enhancing analytical capabilities, supervisory methodologies and risk-based oversight practices. He was instrumental in the transformation of the QFCRA’s Business Intelligence system, enhancing in-house analytical capabilities and strengthening data-driven decision-making across supervisory functions. Within banking supervision, his work supported the QFCRA’s implementation of the latest Basel framework and alignment with international regulatory practices, further advancing the QFCRA’s risk-based approach to supervision.
During a secondment, he served as the Director of Monetary Policy at the Qatar Central Bank, where he was responsible for leading policy analysis and the coordination of Monetary Policy frameworks in support of the State’s economic objectives.
Prior to his tenure at the QFCRA, he began his career in Investment Banking at QNB Capital, where he gained experience in corporate finance, capital markets, and financial advisory.
He holds an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration Degree majoring in Finance and Economics from The George Washington University in the United States, and a Master of Science in Finance from City University of London.
