Whistleblowing

Whistleblowing means calling attention to wrongdoing that is occurring within an organisation.

We require our authorised firms to operate a protected reporting (whistleblowing) system to identify wrongdoing by QFC-authorised firms or anyone connected to them.

With the protected reporting system, you can make a protected report to either an independent function within the relevant authorised firm or to the QFCRA directly.

This system provides confidentiality, anonymity and protection for anyone making a report.

Guidelines for making a protected report to the Regulatory Authority:

You must believe on reasonable grounds that the wrongdoing you are reporting is true.

Your report is about an authorised firm or person connected with an authorised firm;

Your report provides information that any of the following has happened, is happening or is likely to happen:

  • A criminal offence (which includes financial impropriety, fraud, etc.)
  • A breach of law, regulations, rules, requirements
  • Someone’s health and safety are in danger
  • A breach of an authorised firm’s policies and procedures (including, for example, a breach of a code of conduct or policy in relation to ethical behaviour)
  • Deliberate concealment of wrongdoing
