International Co-operation

The QFC Regulatory Authority places great importance on co-operation with other regulators and international organisations. We conduct and structure our relationships with these bodies through bilateral and multilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MoU).

The QFC Regulatory Authority is a member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and is a signatory to the IAIS Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMoU). Our relationship with IAIS is strengthened through our membership in the IAIS Macroprudential Policy Surveillance Working Group and the Signatories Working Group.

The QFC Regulatory Authority is also an Associate Member of the International Organization of International Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and full signatory to the IOSCO MMoU Concerning Consultation and Co-operation and the Exchange of Information. As an active member, the Regulatory Authority participates in IOSCO’s work through the Africa/Middle-East Regional Committee, Growth and Emerging Markets Committee and Committee 5 (C5) on Investment Management. Additionally, the Regulatory Authority chairs the C5’s sub-committee on leverage (C5 Leverage Sub-Working Group), a task force required to establish technical standards following the Financial Stability Board recommendations to mitigate excessive leverage on funds.
